Disney’s The Lion King is following in the footsteps of Cinderella, The Jungle Book and Beauty and the Beast… being remade into a live-action film!
The Walt Disney Company announced Wednesday (September 28) that Jon Favreau (who directed 2016′s The Jungle Book) will be at the helm of re-imagining the 1994 animated classic.
The original film, released in June 1994, featured the voices of Jonathan Taylor Thomas, Matthew Broderick and Jeremy Irons. It was the highest grossing animated film for 16 years until it was surpassed by Toy Story 3 in 2010.
I wonder if they’ll have James Earl Jones reprise the voice of Mufasa. I really can’t picture anyone else doing it. We shall see!
