The game was tied 0-0 for eight innings in the National League Wild Card game between the New York Mets and San Francisco Giants.
At the top of the ninth inning, Giants third-baseman Connor Gillaspie goes up against Mets closing pitcher Jeurys Familia with two men on base. On the third pitch, Gillaspie hit the 90mph ball over the wall in left center giving his team the 3-0 and eventually the win, sending the Giants to the National League Division Series against the Chicago Cubs.
It was a pitcher’s war for sure between Noah Synderdaard and Madison Bumgarner.
Syndergaard held on strong for seven innings although he got into a bit of trouble near the end, putting two men on base, however, he was able to get out of it.
Bumgarner threw eight scoreless innings with a runner getting on second base, but he stayed on until the end game.
Considering everything the Mets went through this season, it was great that they even made it to the NL Wild Card.
Congrats to the San Francisco giants on their victory win.
Until next year Mets fans!
