Carrie Fisher, best known for her role as Princess Leia in the original Star Wars trilogy died on Tuesday morning at the age of 60.
The family’s spokesman Simon Halls announced the news of her passing in a statement to People magazine. “It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning. She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.”
The actress suffered a heart attack on December 23rd while on a flight from London to Los Angeles.
Fisher reprised her role as Princess Leia in last year’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens and finished wrapping scenes for Star Wars: Episode VIII.
