Google doodle is celebrating the birthday of one of America’s hidden figure, Bessie Coleman. Today would have been her 125th birthday.
Born in Atlanta, Texas in on January 26, 1892, she became the first female pilot of African American and Native American decent to hold both a pilot license and international pilot license.
Tragically, her life was cut short at the age of 34, when her plane crashed in Jacksonville, Florida, along with her mechanic and publicist William Willis.
Thank you Ms. Coleman for your courage to break racial barriers to achieve your goals. You are a pioneer in aviation history.
