Harry Potter turns 20!

Monday marks 20 years since the publication of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in the United Kingdom.

Written by J.K. Rowling and published by Bloomsbury, readers were introduced to the boy wizard in June 1997. Although it was successful in the U.K., it became an even bigger success when it was released in the United States – renamed Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone – by Scholastic in September 1998.

The debut novel was the first of seven more books and eight film adaptations to follow, becoming a fictional and pop culture phenomenon.

Happy Birthday Harry Potter⚡️

Daniel Day-Lewis retiring from acting

Actor Sir Daniel Day-Lewis is retiring from acting.

His representative, Leslee Dart, confirmed the news in a statement.

“Daniel Day-Lewis will no longer be working as an actor. He is immensely grateful to all of his collaborators and audiences over the many years. This is a private decision and neither he nor his representatives will make any further comment on this subject.”

After a “semi-retirement” in the late 1990s, he returned to acting in Martin Scorsese’s Gangs of New York (2002) playing gang leader William “Bill the Butcher” Cutting, co-starring with Leonardo DiCaprio.

Lewis has won a Best Actor Oscar three times for his performances in My Left Foot (1989), There Will Be Blood (2007) and Lincoln (2012).

He will be seen in his final film, Phantom Thread, which is expected to be released this Christmas.

“America’s Got Talent” contest Dr. Brandon Rogers passes away as age 29

Season 12’s “America’s Got Talent” contestant Dr. Brandon Rogers was killed in a car accident on Saturday.

Rogers AGT was scheduled to air on NBC next month, but no word yet from producers on whether the episode will still be shown.

He became famous after posting a video on Instagram of himself performing a cover of Boyz II Men’s “On Bended Knee,” which also caught the attention of AGT producers, and also eventually caught the attention of the R&B group.

Boys II Men invited Rogers to perform with them at the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas this past January.

They released a statement on their Facebook page on Sunday after learning of Rogers’ passing.

“Today our hearts are deeply saddened to learn about the sudden death of Dr. Brandon Rogers in a car accident. A few [months] back we brought this young man out to the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas to perform with us. He was great all 3 nights! Just a genuinely nice person and a really good singer! Gone too young and gone too soon. It hurts to know that the world will never have a chance to witness what his impact on the world could have been as a Doctor and even on the music world. A great spirit and a great voice. Even for the little time we knew you you will be sorely miss. May God Bless, keep and comfort your family in this difficult time.”

The world has lost another talented soul way too soon. Sing with the angels✨
